Health Emergencies: Asthma Awareness

This course focuses on the symptoms, treatment and monitoring of asthma and is designed for all staff members indirectly involved with students with asthma. This course covers statistics on increasing prevalence of asthma among students, the definition of asthma, signs and symptoms of asthma attacks, an overview of asthma treatments (including inhalers and nebulizers), and important health care considerations in minimizing asthma attacks.

Carol Jones, RN
Carol Jones has been a school nurse in the Peninsula School District in Gig Harbor, Washington, for more than 20 years. She also serves as the lead nurse and coordinates health and safety training programs for district employees. Jones has additional experience as an emergency department nurse, a public health nurse and a medical-surgical instructor in a diploma nursing program.
