Cincinnati, Ohio (Jan. 25, 2016) – After a rigorous Request for Proposal (RFP) process, Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board in Berrie, Ontario has adopted the SafeSchools Online Staff Training System from Scenario Learning. With 50 schools, 20,000 students and 2,500 employees, Simcoe Muskoka sought an online training system capable of delivering highly specialized school safety training that staff members could complete when it’s most convenient for their schedule.

Simcoe Muskoka selected the SafeSchools Training System because it delivers a comprehensive library of online courses, including Ontario-specific and Canada National courses, many with French versions to help their schools comply with provincial and federal legislation. These courses include Worker Health and Safety Awareness Training, Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS), Workplace Violence: Awareness & Prevention, Sexual Harassment: Staff to Staff, Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) and many more titles. Using the online system, administrators can easily track training completions, monitor progress, download compliance reports and view or print certificates of completion.

“Our training program helps solve many of the safety and compliance needs that schools have today,” said Brian Taylor, CEO of Scenario Learning. “Our company is committed to helping make schools even safer places for students and staff members and we know, working with administrators, we can help do that throughout Canada.”

What makes the SafeSchools Training System unique in the market is that every course is 100 percent school-focused and written by a leading safety expert. Expanding into Canada, Scenario Learning sought out local authors to help customize their training for this new market, including Lisa Yu, owner and principal advisor of Ontario-based The Safe Workplace, and Eric Roher, national leader of the education focus group at Toronto-based Borden Ladner Gervais LLP, where he practices in the areas of education law, labor relations and employment law. Roher also advises a range of public and private sector employers, school boards and independent schools.
